An Acrylic Nails is a type of artificial nail extension that is created by mixing a liquid and powder together to form a hard protective layer over mostly nail extensions or nail tips. The mixture is then applied to your nails with a brush and shaped into the desired shape. Once dried, they can be painted with your favorite color and/ or finished with nail art to make it more appealing.
Builder gel is a gel-based product primarily used for nail enhancement or sometimes for strengthen natural nails. It is applied in similar way to regular gel and cured in UV light. Builder gel is stronger than regular gel and can last up to 2-3 weeks. Also, these are only cured in UV light rather than in air like Acrylic.
Dip powder or popularly known as SNS, the company that pioneered dipping powder system. Dip powder nails is a technique in which you will dust or brush a pigmented powder over your nails to create an opaque layer of color. Dip powder nails got their name because you dip your nails in color jar and then excess color is shaken off. These are growing popularity as they are considered to be long lasting, more flexible and trendier.
A Gel polish is a type of nail treatment that is similar to a traditional color, but with a few differences, gel nail polish is painted on similarly to classic lacquer. However, it is cured with a UV or LED light for long-lasting and better adherence compared to nail lacquer. Each coat of gel polish is cured under UV light with LED equipment. And instead of waiting for your nails to air dry, you’re ready to leave the salon as soon as your last topcoat cures.
Traditional nail polish is the kind that has to dry in air, it’s what many of us think of when we think of nail polish. It’s offered in a variety of finishes from shiny to matte to shimmery and this type of nail polish doesn’t require other equipment like UV or LED lights. It takes about 15 min of air drying, you can expect to make it through a week or so before becoming victim to a chipping. It’s quick to apply and costs less.
French Tip Nails - The defining feature of a French tip manicure or pedicure is the white line across the top. They come in 2 flavors, regular French tip, which is straight line and French moon tip, which is crescent moon shaped.
When you're getting a full set, the nail technician will usually put on tips or use nail forms to achieve a more natural look. Then they put on acrylic powder/ monomer paste on top of tips, each tip with acrylic is then sanded and shaped as desired and painted with polish of your choice of regular, gel or dip powder colors.
After about 2-3weeks you nail on the cuticle side starts showing up, this is the time for you to get a fill. Fill is a process of putting new acrylic on your existing tips and finishing with cool new color, you can fill acrylic on existing tips for up to 4- 6 weeks and paint them with your choice of colors.
